2023 Parade Rest GSM
Our goal is to create a GSM that is a true expression of the Santa Ynez Valley. In order to achieve this, we source our grapes from the top sub-AVAs that grow the best version of each varietal. That is Ballard Canyon for Syrah and Grenache and Los Olivos District for the Mourvèdre. For the 2022 vintage we fermented and aged each varietal separately. Each component was aged for 10 months in neutral Burgundy barrels. By taking a non-interventionist approach to winemaking we hope to present the high quality, depth, and uniqueness of the Santa Ynez Valley.
Tasting notes

Grenache provides generous wild red berry aromas that blend with the blue fruits and spice of the Syrah and the tannins of the Mouvèdre for a rambunctious, yet contained experience. 

Production notes
For the 2023 vintage we fermented and aged the Syrah separately. The Rock Hollow Grenache and the Camp 4 Mourvèdre were co-fermented to provide better integration. Each component was aged for 10 months in 15% new oak to provide more complexity and depth and 85% neutral oak to retain the fresh fruit characteristics Slouch Hat is known to provide. By taking a non interventionist approach to winemaking we hope to meet the high quality, depth, and uniqueness of wines produced by Santa Ynez Valley fruit.
